Damoiseau
What does this word mean you ask?
Here is the definition:
The French male form of damsel; a young man not yet dubbed a knight
I love a good book where the woman saves the man.
What do you prefer: a damsel in distress or a Damoiseau? Can you think of any great books where the man is the Damoiseau?

ReplyDeleteI think the girl saves the guy a lot, even when it's subtle. Like in Tangled, he saves her quite a bit, but she saves him from his destructive behavior and then saves his life in the end.
'Course I am watching that right now, so that may be why I'm thinking about it. :)
Love this! I like it when the girl rescues the boy, but it's also awesome when he helps her out too. I think anymore people are all about girls being tough, which I totally get. But there is something about chivalry too, that I hope doesn't die off.
ReplyDeleteI never knew that there was a male version of damsel! That's so cool.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Cassie - girls do their own fair share of saving.
I love when the girl saves the guy even if it is in a more subtle way. But I agree with Cortney, there is something about chivalry too :)
ReplyDeleteOooo, great question!!! You have me thinking...I love a story where the male and female characters save each other in equal ways. I think all great long lasting love stories are based on equality.
ReplyDeleteIt makes me think of the movie Enchanted where the princess saves the prince! Great post and happy A-Z blogging.
ReplyDeleteDoesn't Katsa in Graceling save the dude in the end? Didn't know this word, thanks.
ReplyDeleteI tend to write men in distress being saved by women...partly out of hope.
ReplyDeleteNever heard of this. What a kick. No big boy pants here.
ReplyDeleteI love that word! Makes me want to say it out loud... Damoiseau... in my best French accent... Bonjour Damoiseau... let me rescue you... heheheh
ReplyDeleteSuddenly I have a craving for champagne and good fromage...
What a great word. I love stories where the woman gets to save the man :-)
ReplyDeleteOff the top of my head, I can't think of any stories where that happens. Hmmm, story idea coming on . . .
