AHHHH! It's almost here!! Anyone else ready to get this party started??? I'll tell you, I may not be trying to land an agent, but I am super stoked to meet new writers. But I know you're not here to listen to my blathering. You want to know the GUTGAA Schedule, right? Right.
But wait...
A couple things to remember:
1) You don't have to participate in all of the events in GUTGAA, but if you want to take part in any of it you must signup on the linky list HERE.
2) Grab your badge HERE.
3) Please spread the word via Twitter (#GUTGAA hashtag), Facebook and Blogs.
Okay, now your wait is over....
GUTGAA SCHEDULE
Friday, August 31st:
Meet and Greet Questionnaire - I will be posting a list of fun "get to know you" questions on my blog for you to grab and use for our Week 1: Meet and Greet Blog Hop.
WEEK 1 (Monday, Sept 3rd - Friday, Sept 7th)
OFFICIAL START OF GUTGAA!!
Monday:
GUTGAA Meet and Greet - We're starting off with a little get to know you action. On your blog, post a mini bio about yourself along with answers to the questions I posted on my blog (see above if your confused). Don't like those questions all that much? That's fine. Make up your own. Either way, we just want to get to know you!
Wednesday:
BETA/Critique Group Connect - Anyone interested in making some serious writer connections can come to my blog and post in the comments section what they're looking for and I will try my best to make a writer connection for you.
Friday:
Call for Pitch Polish Entries - Are you looking for some pitch help? The Pitch Polish may be what you're looking for. I will start taking pitches Friday, at 11AM and you will have until Saturday, Sept 8th at 11:59 PM EST to get your pitch sent to deanabarnhart(at)gmail(dot)com. I will take the first 100 entries I get (if I get that many). To enter the pitch polish you will need to paste in the body of an email, your query and first 150 words and send to deanabarnhart(at)gmail(dot)com. Go HERE for details about what I mean by query and first 150 words as well as the format for entries.
Giveaway Winner Announced - Every Friday I will be randomly drawing a participants name and giving them a prize just for being cool:)
WEEK 2 (Monday, Sept 10th - Friday, Sept 14th)
PITCH POLISH!
Monday:
Pitches Posted for Pitch Polish - I will be posting all 100 pitches on my blog for critique. They will be posted anonymously and I will expect ALL comments to be constructive. It is possible for you not to like something and still be helpful. But I'm sure you lovelies know that:)
NOTE: If your pitch didn't make it into the anonymous Pitch Polish, I welcome you to post your pitch on your blog for helpful feedback. I will be posting a linky list for this so those that want can visit as many blog pitches as possible.
Friday:
Agent Pitch Contest Call for Entries - There will be two windows for entries--one at 11AM EST and the other at 4PM EST and I will accept a max of 100 entries in each window for a total of 200 entries. If the windows don't fill up, I will take entries until 11:59PM that same day. To enter the agent judged pitch contest you will need to paste in the body of an email the query and first 150 words of your completed manuscript and send to gutgaa(at)gmail(dot)com. Go HERE for details about what I mean by query and first 150 words as well as the format for entries.
Giveaway Winner Announced - Every Friday I will be randomly drawing a participants name and giving them a prize just for being cool:)
WEEK 3 (Monday, Sept 17th - Friday, Sept 21st)
AGENT PITCH CONTEST: ROUND 1!
Monday:
Get Your Foot in the Door - For those that made it into the Agent Pitch Contest (assuming there are 200 entries), your pitches will be divided into groups of 40 and posted on 5 different host sites: My Blog, Robin Weeks, Falling for Fiction, Emily R King and Jaye Robin Brown. I will do my best to separate the entries into genres. Once the posts go up, each group will be visited by 4 anonymous judges who will each pick their top 10. Those entries with the most votes will go on to Round 2 - The Agent Round. If there is a tie, judges from the other host blogs will come in and pick their favorite until one comes out on top. There will be 50 finalists!
Monday - Thursday:
Judge Trolling - The anonymous judges can comment on any entries that they would like, but if they want you in they will say something along the lines of, "I vote for you to move on."
Friday:
Finalists Announced - I think this is pretty self explanatory:)
Giveaway Winner Announced - Every Friday I will be randomly drawing a participants name and giving them a prize just for being cool:)
WEEK 4 (Monday, Sept 24th - Friday, Sept 28th)
AGENT PITCH CONTEST: ROUND 2!
Monday:
The Agent Round - I will post the 50 finalist pitches on my blog for the 11 agents to read through.
Monday - Friday:
Agent Trolling - As agents read through the pitches they can comment on any that they want. If they really like your entry they can request a partial or full through the comments as well.
Friday:
Small Press Pitch Contest Call for Entries - There will be two windows for entries--at 11AM EST & 4PM EST. I will accept a max of 50 entries each time. To enter the small press pitch contest you will need to paste in the body of an email the query and first 150 words of your completed manuscript and send it to gutgaa(at)gmail(dot)com. Go HERE for details about what I mean by query and first 150 words as well as the format for entries. I will post the format directions on this day as well.
Giveaway Winner Announced - Every Friday I will be randomly drawing a participants name and giving them a prize just for being cool:)

There will be 25 finalists!
Monday - Thursday:

And that's it folks! Any questions? Please leave them for me below.
Woo! So excited about this!!
ReplyDeleteThis is epic, Deana. Kudos for putting it together!
ReplyDeleteSo pumped :)
ReplyDeleteI think I just peed in my pants. LOL I am so excited!
ReplyDeleteThis schedule is amazing. Thank you so much for putting in the effort and donating your time. (And thanks to the other 4 host sites as well).
This is going to be so much fun!
Goddess. Plain and simple. You are a goddess!
ReplyDeleteS.T.O.K.E.D!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for hosting this event! It sounds like it'll be very educational for everyone!
ReplyDeleteThis sounds like a lot of fun, thanks for doing this. Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteGot word about this from Jaye Robin Brown...and I'm signing up! Thanks so much for organizing.
ReplyDeleteWow! You are super woman. Thanks for all your hard work. This is going to be epic :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome!! This is weeks of inspiration. Thanks for doing this.
ReplyDeleteI don't have a blog. May I still enter?
ReplyDeleteSounds super exciting! I can't wait! :)
ReplyDeleteQueries, Agents and Publishers Oh My!
ReplyDeleteSounds exciting and thrilling and almost scary! So many things to keep up with and participate in! Woot!
Wow, that is some MAJOR work! You are amazing Deana for organizing this. I will try not to be flaky for any part of it! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is going to be great.
ReplyDeleteI don't envy you all the work you've got to do here, but WOW... *Applause*
ReplyDeleteI had to make sure my name was on that linky list. I'm on there so personal crisis averted lol!
ReplyDeleteI've bookmarked this schedule so I can keep up with each event. Don't want to miss out on a thing!!
All I could think of when I was reading this was holy hell. And then I got the nervous feeling in my stomach because I'm so excited. And impressed at what you have done. And nervous.
ReplyDeleteYou are incredible.
I'm so happy everyone is getting excited!!! I can't wait:)
ReplyDeleteIf I didn't have old-lady knees, I'd be bowing at your feet right now. This is EPIC--bravo!
ReplyDeleteEpic!
ReplyDeleteWOW - Deana, you've added a whole other level to the QueenBlogger title!!
ReplyDeleteThis is such an amazing opportunity. My hat goes off to you for taking the time to put together this awesome event :o)
ReplyDeleteI've never done this before, but I'm tempted. I have a small, beginner, "homemade" blog...is that okay?
ReplyDeleteYay! Can't wait!
ReplyDeleteSounds FABULOUS!!!! :D
ReplyDeleteThis looks fantastic! Thank you so much for putting all of this together. I've been really looking forward to this.
ReplyDeleteFor the different contests, do people enter the same pitch for each one? Also, do announcements get sent out for those that participate in the blog hop? I didn't know if we search through our linky tool to find those that do post for the "Blog Hop."
I can't wait for this!
No. I learn from each contest. Otherwise, I wouldn't bother.
DeleteThat's a full schedule and I'm excited to be part of it!
ReplyDeleteWhen will we know who the agents and small pesses are? (I'm more interested in knowing about the publishers. Have to decide if I want to join that one!)
ReplyDeleteso awesome! i will repost after camp
ReplyDeleteI cannot imagine how much work it is to organize this event. Congratulations and thanks!!
ReplyDeleteI think you are totally amazing for getting this all together! I'm so excited!
ReplyDeleteOh my! This is awesome and a bit scary. I'm excited to be participating this year. Thanks for putting this together!
ReplyDeleteLook at you creeping up toward 1000 followers. YAY YOU!
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to see how this pitchfest goes!
Sounds amazing! I'm psyched! :)
ReplyDeleteCool! Just got the memo from Twitter. Can't wait!! :)
ReplyDeleteWow, last year was AWESOMESAUCE but this is bigger and better. Since I dont need an agent I'll just watch the fun from the sidelines but you are truly a rockstar for putting this together with everything else you got going on. You figured out a way to clone yourself yet;~)
ReplyDeleteSo excited ( said with Aussie accent ) to be involved. Cheering on from the southern hemisphere. Best of luck and applause for Deanna. Julie
ReplyDeleteHey, if you're looking for someone to help with the crit/beta partner match up, I'd be happy to host a genre or two on my blog. By narrowing it down and 'hosting' different genres on different blogs some of the burden would be taken off you. Of course people could sign up at more than one blog. Just a thought, you're doing so much already!!
ReplyDeleteLovely Miss Deana, you are the QUEEN of paying it forward. Karma's got something FAB in store for you ... I just KNOW it! Have fun with GUTGAA. :)
ReplyDeleteWow - what a bundle of opportunity. You rock.
ReplyDeleteAwesome!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to get started!
ReplyDeleteI'm afraid, I'm not quite ready to pitch my book, but it will be great to see what goes on in the contest and learn from it. Can someone enter the pitch polish, even if they aren't entering the pitch contests? While my MS still needs work, I'd love the opportunity to get some feedback on my pitch.
I can tell you've put a ton of work into this. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteWow! This is awesome!
ReplyDeleteHow cool! Nice work, Deana. :)
ReplyDeleteWow, what an opportunity :)
ReplyDeleteSadly I'm on holiday for the start, so I won't be able to enter my idea. However, this looks like a great opportunity to learn, so I'll check back to see everyone's pitches.
Thanks for organising!
Awesome. Thanks for the opportunity. Looking forward to it :)
ReplyDeleteI think it's great that you're doing this leading up to NaNo time! I just had one question: Can we do both the agent and small editor contest? Fantasy doesn't get picked up by agents as often as other genres, so I've been looking both ways.
ReplyDeleteJust to clarify, did you already receive 100 pitch polish entries? I thought we couldn't send them until Friday, but with the note on Monday I'm a bit confused.
ReplyDeleteThanks!
I've only just discovered GUTGAA, what a fabulous thing you've done putting this opportunity together for the writing community. Thank you :) I'm off to sign up!
ReplyDeleteThanks for organizing this. It looks like you put A LOT of work into putting this together.
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to participating in my first GUTGAA! Looks like fun.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for putting this together! I'm super excited!
ReplyDeleteWay cool. You are so organized! Love it.
ReplyDeleteDeana,
ReplyDeleteWOW! Thanks for such a great opportunity!
This may seem silly, but I want to make sure I'm sending the right thing when I send in my pitch for the Pitch Polish. By pitch are you referring to just the short pitch sentence or paragraph or the entire query?
So looking forward to the next few weeks! Thank you.
So excited! Thanks Deana, for putting this together - what a great opportunity!
ReplyDeleteI have the same questions as Kelley Harvey. What does a pitch entail? I'll be on vacation Sep 4-8 so I'd love to finish it ahead of time and just hit the "submit" button on Friday. But if there aren't instructions available ahead of time, I'll try to work on it during my break.
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for hosting this! :)
Actually, I just read the description for the Agent Pitch contest. Is this the same for the Pitch Polish contest?
ReplyDelete"To enter the agent judged pitch contest you will need to email your query and first 150 words of your completed manuscript to deanabarnhart(at)gmail(dot)com"
Thanks for hosting this, Deana. It's going to be fun!
ReplyDeleteWOW! This is epic! I'm looking forward to having fun. I had to hunt to find all the elements I could sign up for.
ReplyDeleteThis is so exciting! Thanks for organizing/hosting this Deana! I am incredibly looking forward to the entire process.
ReplyDelete=)
I'm so excited for this and I don't want to miss the opportunity. Just to be clear: we can send our pitches for the Pitch Polish on Friday, 11am EST-11pm EST. Is that right? I'm on the west coast, so I'm trying to figure it all out. Thanks for doing all of this. You're amazing!
ReplyDeleteThis is great! Looking forward to getting to know all of you!
ReplyDeleteButterflies in my stomach! Butterflies, I tell ya!
ReplyDeleteThanks Deana for such a wonderful September Contest! You are doing a great service to all writers out there. Kudos!
ReplyDeleteDeana,
ReplyDeleteI would love to participate in the Small Press Pitch Contest. But I'm having trouble signing up on the linky list because I don't have a blog. My information is Jill Hackman. cjhackman@verizon.net
Thanks so much!
