At to Z Challenge: Letter F

FARM

Many times during the year my family packs our van full of fishing poles, guns and grungy clothes and we head to my dad's FARM.

The Blue Haven
(my dad's a UK fan too, hence the blue:)

This place is full of opportunities for our kids to make lasting memories. .

And boy do we!

We ride the horses
Take hay rides
Fish in the two ponds

Roast marshmallows by the fire

Feed the chicks

Watch the goats

And shoot guns

I wanted to add pictures for all of these but one negative to the farm is that the internet connection and upload time is soooooo slooooow. Which can be good because it also leads to some good writing time.

There is plenty to do on the farm and we love every second of it...except picking the ticks off...and the spiders. I could go my whole life without either of those.

Where do you like to go to get away?

So fun to escape for a while! We live on a farm, so we're out in the boonies as it is, so my favorite place to get away is back to the city where I grew up!! :D It feels like I come back to life when I go there, lol, just because life is so much slower and secluded where we live now.

That sounds like fun! I love country escapes. Looks like you have the same paragraph twice in this post though. :)

I love to fish and toast marshmallows. I could pass on the other things. :)

How fun! That sounds like a great place to get away.

Even though my parent's house is only 20min away, I go there to 'get away'. My mom cooks and I watch football with my dad.

And lots of writing :)

I'd take a spider over a tick, though. Ugh!

Have some fish and roasted marshmallows for me! ...Well, maybe not both at once, though. ;)

I have a way slow internet connection too, and I'm nowhere near a farm, lol.

I love to get away just by driving. Anywhere. Listen to music and have a Coke in the cup holder. Ya, I love it.

A farm getaway sound fantastic! I just got back from Florida and the beach was just what I needed!! But my parent's condo at a lake a few hours away is much more accessible for weekend getaways :)

Sounds lovely! My favorite getaway is our family cabin in Canada. It was built by my grandparents on the shore of the most beautiful lake and I definitely consider it my home. It has been 9 years since I've been up there, but I'm hoping to go this summer!

Hello Deana,

Great post, I think I just found my new favorite blog. Love the way you write! That farm looks so calm and serene too.

I discovered your site through the A to Z Challenge and am now a follower, but not in a stalker-ish way with binoculars and night vision goggles or anything like that ….

Feel free to take a peek at my blog too if you have time. I write humor, and people tell me I’m funny (maybe it’s just the voices in my head, that’s what the doctor told me this last time when he upped my meds again).

Thanks for the gorgeous images of happy days on the farm. Growing up we used to visit my aunt and uncle on their farm. And they had ticks, too! Ugh!

My favorite place to getaway to is too far away (Tuscany). But I live in a vacation cabin in the woods. So home feels like a getaway sometimes. ^_^

Ha, My favorite place to go is "Hobby Lobby" and shop for cloth and other stuff. I am a quilter and so that is what appeals to me. I also love to go see my great grands. I don't get to see them nearly often enough. Now, I need to go visit other blogs. I grew up on a farm and do love going to the country, too.
Best regards to you and your family. Bye for now. Ruby

That looks like a great time. My brother's girlfriend just bought a farm in north Texas and I'm really excited about it. We already took my son up and he loved the chickens and tractors. That could make for a great summer visiting place.

We like to go someplace with a view. Elevation. It doesn't have to be in the mountains. A tall riverbank with a sweeping bend beneath will do. Any old hilltop, to watch a sunset or to watch the stars come out.

I grew up on a working farm. I think that children are fortunate when they get exposure to that world.

The ticks! Ugh! Epidemic in rural areas... My yard is woods, anything from witch hazels to 100 foot tall hardwoods. We intentionally left a corner of it wild, but this year, I think we will have to take out the underbrush and mow it like the rest--because of the ticks. Some of our local vets are reporting 50% positive for the dogs they have tested for Lyme's disease. :-(
