Friday Free For All!

I have dreams of the perfect writing day.

For me it would be waking up after 8AM to a roaring thunderstorm pounding on the roof, creating the only noise in an otherwise quiet house. The day has to be overcast and dark so I don't have any desire to head outside. The kids, hubs and dog have conveniently decided to go on an all day outing and would have already left. I don't have breakfast to make, a toddler to usher to the potty, a seven-year-old's hair to brush as she complains or a dog to walk. Just me, a Diet Pepsi, my computer and focus.

Ah, the perfect day. Maybe it will happen. One day.

What about you? What would your perfect writing day consist of?

Aahhh, no aural interruptions is the first must. Followed by everyone too busy to try and drag me away from my computer. Actually would love either a sunny day to go out and write in (or find a cafe window to abscond) or a rainy day. And the cats just being adorable everywhere.

Oh. Better disconnect the internet too.

I write in the evenings after work, and the longer I can stay awake, the better. So, a holiday the next day so I can sleep late is all I require.

That's pretty much my perfect day too. When it's dark and stormy, that's when I get my best work done!

Ooo, yes. I'll take one of those days too please!

That sounds pretty near perfect (well except the diet coke - blech! - give me coffee).

The reasons you speak of are why I get up EARLY to write. Total silence and solitude so I can hear my characters talking.

Dark and stormy days are the best writing days! Such a perfect atmosphere. Have a great weekend!

If my computer had the Kindle feature--no glare--I'd love to sit in the park (no kids) near a pond on a lounge chair with a keg of sweet tea, a perfect temp of 73 degrees and write my heart out with no worries of being chased by ducks at the pond or birds pooping on me and/or my laptop! :)

I'm on the verge of a perfect writing day. Storms are on the way. It's getting dreary outside. The house is quiet. The dogs are sleeping. Hubz is out on an appointment. I'm off today from my day job...and just made some fresh coffee.

As a mom of four, I can tell you, it will happen! One day, and sooner than you think :) And it's lovely. We rarely get those days here in Az, but that would be my kind of writing day, too.

The internet suddenly bursts into flames for a day and the only thing that works on my computer is Word.

My glass of Mountain Dew refills itself like on Harry Potter. And my bladder magically isn't affected by the constant consumption.

The characters in my head talk to me more than the blinking cursor.

Hubs and the kids are out having fun for hours, and the cats have stopped licking themselves in the center of my floor.

And finally, my fuzzy slippers were found and promptly placed on my feet. They stay there all day.

That's not too much to ask for, right?

Sunshine, quiet, warmth, no one around and no internet connection to distract me.

Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

I love it when its raining or snowing :) When it's sunny I feel guilty for not being outside.

My perfect writing day would be on vacation in a beautiful, peaceful spot, with a large bay window overlooking the beach, mountains, or skyline for inspiration. Perhaps I'd be visiting my aunt and maternal grandparents in Florida, maybe my surviving uncle in Denver, or perhaps on my fourth trip to Israel. I actually am thinking of taking a trip somewhere (perhaps to one of those places), to get away from all the stress and drama of dealing with my so-called fiancé, so maybe I will get even more writing done than usual if I'm away.

Sunday morning, coffee of a perfect temperature and milk to coffee ratio, husband and cat sleeping in (cat not sleeping on my lap, she's too cute and distracting.)

Sounds nice! Especially the thunderstorm part.
I try not to think about my perfect day. I try to make it!

Your scenario sounds pretty good to me. I'll take it.

I love the description of your day. Just make mine overcast, no rain, as that rhythmic tapping could lull me to sleep.

If your perfect writing day was MY perfect writing day, then everyday would be perfect for me. I live in Seattle after all, and yes, it IS constantly dark, gloomy, and rainy here! But I must admit, it does help me write.

Your perfect writing day is similar to mine. Mostly, I'd love to be able to write undisturbed. Is that so much to ask?

I hate to break it to you, Deana, but you described my Fridays. The sun rarely shines here, I don't have a dog or children, and my husband brings me breakfast in bed then leaves the house for the day, returning late with groceries and dinner. Yes. You can hate me now.

Funny enough, my perfect writing day would be completely different. I'd love to have a sunny day with hardly no wind where I can sit in the grass or up in a tree with my pen, a notebook and some snacks. That would be my perfect writing atmosphere.

New follower, btw.

Rain really does seem to make for the best writing days. I would require my iPod and headphones, a bottle of water, a bottle of gatorade, and a cup of tea. What can I say, I have a bit of drink ADD.

What is it about rain that revs up the writing motor? I'm the same way. I love opening the blinds and seeing those clouds. Add a fire in the fireplace and diet Dr. Pepper - perfection.

Make the diet Pepsi a Barnie's flavored Santa's White Christmas coffee and I'm right there with ya:):)

Um... totally forgot to mention I left you a couple blog awards over at my place!

I write every day when I feel as if I have the inspiration to. There's really no other way I can say it. Something has to happen as a catalyst to help my writing.
