Now for the rules of week 3....
Week 3
Query Critique Contest
Rules:
I think this one is pretty self explanatory. If you are ready to query then we are ready to help.
Rules:
I think this one is pretty self explanatory. If you are ready to query then we are ready to help.
-Visit my blog starting Saturday and sign up in the linky I provided below (when you have your query up) so others can visit your blog and give HELPFUL advice on your query. You will have until Monday to post it and hop around others blogs.
-We will hop around giving our input until Tuesday. Please try to visit others and help them out too.
-Tuesday take your polished query and email it to me deanabarnhart@gmail.com
-Wednesday I will pick the top 5 or 10 depending on number of participants and post on my blog
-Friday, Lora Rivera will pick a winner and he/she will get a choice of a query critique or a first 5 page critique.
One thing about Lora and her critiques...
She may not be an agent anymore, but she still thinks like one. She has told me her critiques are very thorough, therefore I believe they are extremely beneficial!

This is so fun Deana :) Thanks for all your hard work.
This just keeps getting better, Deana; thank you very much!
When would you like for us to post our queries on our blogs? I jumped the gun on Week 1. :)
Michelle
Hi Deana, I'm afraid my link went wrong so have submitted it again.
Alos, I think I've misunderstood. Am I supposed to put the Query up on my blog for people to comment on? Nobody seems to have done it on the other links (and it's Sat today where I am).
Thanks! Freya
Woohooo!! I can't wait!! :)
I'm with Freya--the instructions say to post the query now, right? Then collect pointers for a couple days, revise, and email to you on Tuesday.
I did my post before I signed up so my linky link would link right to my query post. :)
Hey guys, I have responded to most of you through email with questions on when to post but Robin brought up a good point. SO I am going to ask that you sign up when you are ready to post your query that way those on the list will be ready for the hop. If you have already signed up and not posted your query that is fine, just let me know when you get it posted and I can change your link to link to that post. SOund good?
Mine is up!
KP
Fun, fun, fun! I love your blogfest, Deana! What a great way to work together.
Hi, Deana,
My query is live at http://michellefayard.blogspot.com/2011/07/blogfest-week-three-query-contest.html.
Thank you very much for helping us do this correctly. :)
Michelle
Deana - Thanks so much for blogfest, I've had a blast. I'm bowing out of this week's because my two completed manuscripts have queries that have been worked a million times and I don't want to muddy the waters so to speak. I'll jump around and visit blogs, but querys are not my strong suit as far as critiquing.
Anyway - I went from like 24 followers to 47 as a result of this blogfest!
Thanks again.
J.Ro
Hi all! This is fun. I pulled my original entry. Thanks to those who responded, but that query has already been very successful in eliciting requests for my MS, which is out for review right now. So I reposted an original query, very rough, for my WIP. I'd love your feedback on this one.
I added myself on the linky list along with the time that I would post my query!!! I'll probably send an email out for people to check because I'd hate to be missed all on account that I'm unable to sign up BEFORE tuesday since I won't have internet access at that time!
I got mine up...baseball all day today, tomorrow too. Not that baseball has anything to do with a query. What?
I just want to say thanks!
It's great being apart of this and I'm so overwhelmed with all the help from the you guys in the US!
This is exactly what I needed!
Thanks!
Thank you so much for doing this Deana! This is exactly what I needed to get my query into agent-ready condition :)
Yay! I'm glad everyone is having a blast with this:) I think I have answered everyones questions through email. If I haven't and you still have some let me know and I will be more than happy to answer.
Tomorrow I will be hittin' the blogs and giving my input...though I don't know how much help that will be:)
Deana, I just got back after being out of town for days. I have a query but would like to tweak it tomorrow. If I post it tomorrow, is that too late? I love this blog-fest and don't want to miss out on the fun.
Thanks so much! ~ Rachel
I'm just going to watch this one, thanks so much for all your help!
Hi Deana,
Thanks for your feedback. I don't think I will enter to win the prize. There are so many people more deserving than me. It's been good fun having a go and getting suggestions from others though, and I've certainly learned a lot! I think for now I'll focus on putting it all into practise.
I've been seeing this all over the place. No query here at the present, but wishing well to all who are signed up for this.
Lee
Tossing It Out
Deana, this has been so much help -- I won't be able to get the "new and improved" query in an email to you in time, but, no worries.
I have so much to work with now, it's as if I've already won something!
Wow, wish I hadn't missed this. But, I just signed up as your newest follower, so hopefully I'll catch the next one. Best,
Lois
Can't wait to go around and read everyone's.
Wow. You have a lot of good entries.
